A2 Card File or Not

I found this file from Lori Whitlock on the Silhouette Library and was intrigued immediately.  These are perfect for A2 cards and envelopes,  The base holds the four files neatly together.   I could not help but think these would also work for other things, like the counter top of the kitchen, coupons, pens, the magnifying glass and note pads.  So I went to work and did one for my roommate.  He is a fisherman, so it had to be a fishing theme.  I found these great elements also in the Silhouette Library.

The bases were cut from heavy card stock (Recollections) from Michaels, 110#.  When adhering them together I used "The Ultimate" by Crafter's Pick, it does not buckle the card stock, because it has less water content, other than that I would suggest a dry adhesive.  The decorative backgrounds are from my design stash.

Some fun printer washi tape, both bow base and photo corners, I did use a punch to cut photo corners out, a little tip, put your washi tape on a piece of plain printer paper when you take them to your corner punch and then pull them off the paper and apply to card.  I have been doing these cute little bird clips, the bird is mounted to a clear plastic circle and then I adhere the clip to the back with a pop dot.

The new bow is a blow up of a wine cork stamp I created a couple of weeks ago, then took it to the silhouette and created a new element,  We are rain free, bunches of sunshine pouring in all week, we are ready for that right now.  Grass and plants are green green green and blooms are brilliant, yeah! lets talk about recyclable containers with no lids

Geeze, I so hope you have not totally become bored with my Fuse and ways to use it, cause I keep tinking of so many things to do with it.  I had a bizzilion pens in a box and although I use them, every time I needed one I had to wade through all of them.  I have been saving these containers that house our Kamataos they work for so many things, the only thing is they do not have a lid or top, so if they turn over - you have a sort job ahead of you.  So I took a bread food bag and created slips for them, then just curled in the ends and secured with paper clips.  Whahoo they are workings, no spilled pens in days.  I have sorted out gels, calligraphy, writing, etc.  It is rainy, cold and I am organizing, happy weekend ALL. hugs

Seriously cute pocket

 I am still on my pocket craze, this pocket is a little bigger over all dimension with the flap closed is approximately 2 1/2 x 3" with the flap open it is 2 1/2 x 4".  I used a non-glare sheet protector for this one.  A new background paper and washi tape.  I laid two layers of tape down on the bottom top opening of the pocket, then with the cutting element cut a tab shape so that the flap would tuck behind it to close.  Two holes on the top flap for the twine to tie for decoration.

The tabbed flap is move visible in this shot and the insert card has been removed.  The stake is explained below.

I fused a bracket to the back of the pocket so that I could insert a large paperclip or the appetizer fork (I painted black), this makes the pocket much more versatile.  It can be clipped to a card, journal page or a mini gift bag or use the fork to add to a container of flowers, or anything else that comes to mind.

clear library pockets using heavy sheet protectors

okay I am seriously lovin these.  I have been playing with the fuse and wondered the other day if my silhouette would cut out a library pocket from one of my heavy duty sheet protectors, so set a mini one up on my Cameo and separated the sheet protector to yield two sheets instead of one 8 1/2 X 11" pocket, popped it on my mat and sent it to cut and it cut like butter.  The trick to this is when you get ready to fuse it together you are going to fuse from the bottom up and over the little tabs you would normally fold to create the pocket because the Fuse closes it for you, when you are done just cut the tabs off close to the side but being careful not to cut any of the fused area.  Then add a regular or decorative clip to the back and you are ready to go.  I chose to use one as a directive word for my day in my planner, my brain is still thinking up ideas to use this with, they are endless.  The over all size of this mini clear pocket when completed is 1 1/2 X 2".

water proof your book markes

I continue to play with the We Are Memory Keepers "Fuse".  This is a book mark I fused using a full sheet protector cut to size for the bookmark and then fused.  The cat is a softer version of my previous demon cat post and the writing on the side is: "meow is a language of love from a cat to a human", the other side is meow, meow, meow meow.  Happy Thursday

We Didn't Do It

Well, we can blame this on the full moon or my dark side, don't know which, lol.  I saw this little demon cat in an abstract I was working on so I got to work pulled him out of the abstract and went to work enhancing the demon side of it.  However, I really want this cat, it is just too too too and then I decided to give it a twin by mirror imaging it in my Silhouette software, then cut them out and put them on this rather abstract scan of some confetti paper I did in black and white.  Then of course they would say they didn't do it. A Fairy Tale and altered Trading Card Pockets

I am part of the design crew for Tangie Baxter & Co. and do posts for the Art Journal Pockets every month.  Tangie gives us two free 8 1/2 X 11" Journal Sheets and a challenge.  This months challenge was "Fairy Tales".  So, I did what any design team member would do, I printed out the two sheets and looked at them, and looked at them and after a few days with no clue what so ever what I would do with an octopus and seahorses, I started making some notes and that is when it came to me, I would write a fairy tale.  It was a fun challenge that took a different turn for me because I also do a blog post once a month for Tangies' Blog and February has been crazy for me and I did not have a clue what I was going to do for the Blog.

When I finish my challenges each month I cut the pockets in the Trading Card Pocket Sheets on the horizontal on the perforation marks which gives me three sections of 3 cards each and I bind them, I do this because I have no where to store an 8 1/2 X 11" binder, my studio space is a little corner of my closet and some wall space for storage.  They get bound and placed in a box on my shelf.  

A few months back before Christmas I found a great deal on "The We Are Memory Keepers" Fuse and decided it would be useful with the pockets and some other projects I had in mind and got it. Instead of doing my usual binding I decided to experiment and see if I could create a continuous horizontal sheet, so the pockets went from the example above to below.

Perfect for an accordion fold and when folded a neat little packet of 2 1/2 X 3 1/2" cards.  Below is how I made them into one continuous line.

I took a freezer sandwich bag and cut 2 strips 3/4" by 3", I laid the top 3 panel section in the middle of the brace and fused it with the "Fuse", then laid the middle strip on the other half and fused, it worked and then did the bottom section.  I love it, prior to this I have been using old file folders to bind my projects but this is ever better and smaller.  

For the book cover I used a piece of corrugated cardboard, sprayed it front and back with Design Master's "Tint It" Jade and on the front turned the cover upside down and sprayed it with "Tint It" Gold Shimmer so it would drip, creating the sea grass for the Seahorses to swim and hide in.  I then emphasized the sea grass with a micron "Black" pen. I used some Tim Holtz photo corners and his fasteners to keep the book closed and going with the theme attached an existing octopus charm to the fastener.  The accordion sections are secured to the inside back with red line tape, I put the tape on the back cover and the back of the trading card pocket.  I created the "Once Upon a Time"  and Sea Horse elements from Tangies' sheets using the Cameo Silhouette.  As far as I am concerned cannot work with these pockets without the Fuse.

And they lived happily ever after, The End.  Happy Saturday!

brown bag painting for elements

I have been playing with a new technique and like it so much thought maybe some of you would like to try it also.  I have been drawing and painting on brown paper bags, that part really came about because I use the brown paper bags for spray sheets and sometimes turn them into backgrounds.  The reason I am drawing on them to create an element is that I was just playing and did the leaf above using acrylic and NeoColorsII, I wanted to see how the NeoColors blended using them on top of an acrylic base, they work great by the way and blend smoothly.  For whatever reason, used the white NeoColorII around the edges of the leaf, I was just playing, I liked the way the leaf looked and decided to turn it into an element, one cannot have too many leaves in their stash and I was amazed that when I did my extraction it took the white and I loved the leaf even more.  So then I had to do another drawing to see if it would do the same thing and did the tag.  So I will be experimenting more as time permits.  The 3 day blessing is one of my new mint stamps, I stamp it in my planner to remind myself of just some of the blessings I have in a day and I will probably use this as a bookmark in my planner also, it is a 30x30mm stamp.  The background I used is one of my spray sheets sprayed with my Design Master's "Tint It" Gold Shimmer, there is something wrong with the way it is spraying, it's globbing so I thought maybe the nozzle was clogged and way trying to clean it.  It did not help but it sure did give a great background, lol.  Have a great day, hugs

Wine Cork Stamp and tag

 I did a new wine cork stamp this week, a leaf.  Started playing with it a little and did a cluster, scanned it in and turned it into an element with the Silhouette Cameo.

Here is the tag,  We are definitely showing spring signs and this reminds me of the soft new fresh leaves.  They still say we are not finished with the El Nino but I don't know, sure am enjoying the break though, hope everyone have a great holiday weekend and Happy Valentine's Day. Hugs
