gelli plate washi tape

Morning All:  Yesterday as I was cleaning up from my play, I decided to do one last play and pulled out my paper tape that I get at the dollar store to do a couple of test pulls, I was delighted.  I layed strips of the tape to a sheet of card stock for the pull.  Now, if you are doing this you do not want to let the washi tape completely dry on the card stock, the tape is porous and will stick itself to the cardstock, so when it was partially dry, I removed it and laid it down on a piece of transparency, great holder for the tape, you can punch holes on the left side of the transparency and store in a binder until you are ready to use it.  I love how it turned out.  I also realized yesterday that I have 1/2 a dozen or so of the fiskars texture plates, I have almost thrown them out a couple of times, LOL, what was I thinking?  They are pretty great with the gelli plate.  This is a great way to coordinate with your fantastic gelli pull backgrounds, happy Tuesday, hugs

gelli pulls on parchment

My friend Christy saw my blog post yesterday and emailed me that she had seen someone using parchment for the gelli pulls and that they were pretty dramatic.  This morning first thing I decided to try a couple, The top one has been wrinkled 3 or 4 time.  There were two pulls done on each piece, first blue and white and then brown and white.  I am using kitchen parchment and it wants to roll up on itself when you lift it off the plate, so be prepared to grab the bottom before it does, it does not do it so much if you wrinkle the paper first. The wrinkled piece is the most dramatic of the two, it might be a bear to get it to adhere to the journal page though, I will try that and let you know.  I still love the tissue pulls the best.  Have a great week, hugs

Tissue Gelli Pulls

Good Golly Miss Molly, I got my authentic Gelli Plate 8X10 and have been playing like crazy.  Early this morning I grabbed a piece of tissue paper to see how it would react, well, to say I am in love is an understatement.  Tissue paper pulls are the prettiest tissue paper I have ever seen.  I am using the really cheap stuff from the dollar store one side is a semi- gloss, try both sides, don't worry about getting tissue on without wrinkling it gives awesome nooks and crannies.  The second pull was crushed 3 or 4 times before I laid it on the plate and gives almost a lacey effect (love it).  I am tearing my paper 10X12 so that I have a good 2" border in order to lift it without tearing.  When these are torn and incorporated to you journal pages you will not believe how awesome it looks, carry on, hugs

and here is one of the backgrounds using the tissue pulls, I used the lacey one, hugs

So Glad

I spent a lot of time last week cutting stencils with my Cameo, so decided today to play with a couple of them, I like how the diamonds came out.  Then I had some washi tape on my table and played with that, I also cut out some dots with my fiskars dot punch out of the washi tape, I used chipboard as my background and one of my nez leaf designs and it's a card.  Happy Tuesday, hugs

Time

my oh my two cards in one week, lol.  I liked the Iris so much I decided to make an element out of it with the Cameo.  The Iris leaf is hand torn from book paper and then also turned into an element.  The bee is from Silhouette Library "Beatrix Potter" series.  Background is Dylusion Inks - don't you love em? Sentiment stamp is from Tim Holtz. Have a great day, hugs

I Dreamed

It is spring and I have an over dose of the color bug, lol.  I have been doing my daily walk at dusk and I take my camera, the iris are blooming and they are saturated this year, so wish the bloom time was longer.  I could not resist doing an Art Journal Page since one of our prompts was "I Am a Butterfly".  Hope everyone is thriving and creative, hugs

If you grow

Yeah!  I am so excited lately when I get a card done, not many of those gonna on right now.    I used Tim Holtz Stamp behind the flower stems and leaves and cannot remember who is the mfgr of the cute buttons.  Everything else is my design.

The stems and leaves are torn book page, color by color blocks, some Tim Holtz distressing ink and gesso.  Hope everyone has a happy weekend. hugs

repurposing stickers and punch sheets

So what's up with this?  As I have stated in my last few posts, I have all my stuff out, lol, and I keep unearthing as the need arises, in fact I am almost embarrassed to admit how much there is around here, it is like an archaelogical dig around here right now.  I was looking for letters and the only ones I could find were either stickers that were shiny and had colors or patterns I did not like, so I decided to sand them and see if they would work that way.  They do, now here are a couple of tricks, the letter sticker sheet, I have sanded the "S" and circled it, kinda hard to see, it is under the "r's", it is totally blank now, then right under the black tag is orange ring at the top is a "b", well it is upside down but that is a "b" with color added after being sanded.  The tags are from an old Basic Grey sheet and with these the color is not going to completely sand off, it is a higher grade paper, Graphics45, same thing, so sand to roughen up the paper and then apply just a dab of gesso to the paper and then do your thing, there is a round circle circled in black that has been sanded and gessoed and then the pinkish tag above has been played with colored and stamped.  So if you find any of your ugly stickers, don't throw them away - repurpose them. Hugs

Africa - Wild Exotic

Morning, another digi I did for the Art Journal Carvan at Scrapbook Grapics.  All elements and papers are from Tangie Baxter except for the primitive swirls in the background.  Since I have all my stuff out I decided to see if I could do a Gelli pull, I do not have the Gelli Plate so I used my extra thick embossing mat for my big shot.  Effy Wild did a tutorial on using dry wax paper (deli paper) and I had some on hand so decided to do my pulls on that and it worked.  I don't have time to really play with it, but at some point will cause it is fun.  I am posting the pull I used for this digi below.

So here is the pull, in PhotoShop6 I layered this over my background and took the tranparency down to a little under 75% and made it a little smaller than the background paper.  I used my brayer to apply some old Making Memory paint I had and did a pretty thin layer, then I drew the symbols in with my palette knife. I got 2 pulls from the plate.

There was drama in neighborhood

Happy Monday everyone.  If some of you remember about 3 years ago, outside Cat and I had a tussle over a parakeet, I won and Tweets is my studio bird.  Well on Saturday, I was on the front porch and Cass comes bonding from the neighbors yard and in his mouth is this sweet little dove.  He froze in his tracks when he saw me and then decided he would go else where with his catch, but in the end with help from a neighbor, managed to get the wee one out of his grip and safely into a temporary cage.  Yesterday I took him to a Wild Bird Rescue Center and all is well in the neighborhood again.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week. Hugs

Gift of Africa

Happy Saturday, wow how did we get to Saturday? For April we are in Africa over at the Art Journal Caravan.  I signed up for an Art Journal Page swap and have all my colors, pens, pencils, inks, paints out and in action.  I am doing 21 Art Journal pages and doing all my backgrounds first, it is amazing how when you have everthing out and working all your techniques just come flooding back.  I haven't done a gel transfer in ages and just ripped an ad out of a magazine and started playing and although I won't use this as one of my swap pieces, I thought it would be fun to do one of my Africa digis with it.  As things go, I started thinking of all the fun things that could be done with this technique, lol, sadly I do not have time to sit and play with it now but it is going at the top of my list, cause it is not that hard or time consuming to do.
Have a safe and happy weekend everyone, hugs

Forest Through the Trees

It is most annoying when real life interupts my studio time, someone here thinks they are going to starve to death if I don't get to the grocery store, it is raining, whaaaaa, and I don't want to go.

This is my last leaf for a while, I have to move on, so much to do,  this is one of my favorites backgrounds, to me it looks like a book plate of sherwood forest.  I thought I would make a positive out of "Can't see the forest through the trees".  So, I am off to the grocery store, hugs to you!

Good Thoughts

Hey, happy Wednesday, Oh my goodness, I am as happy as a Geico commercial, ROFL.  This card is rather simple if you don't take into consideration it took me all day to make the elements, but that's okay cause now I have them to use when ever.  It took both big guys to get this one done, PS6 and the Cameo and I have to say it is a love story, lol.  Hope everyone is grooving into the 2nd part of their week, til next time, hugs
