A Morning Exercise

On my list of things to try was working with printed words on tissue paper and then layered onto a tissue background.  It is definitely a to be continued project when I have some more time to play with it.  Some fun things I am sure can be done with this.  I love how the chandelier hangs from the star, the chandelier is a rub-on I think from a Tim Holtz package "Victorian".  Galileo is one of my heros and I love this quote from him in a letter while he was under house arrest, which by the way lasted more than half his lifetime.  One of his earlier observations was a swinging chandelier while he was in medical school, which led to his theory of the motion of bodies.  I feel his frustration and the immense twinkling of his brilliance in this quote.  I hope all your observations this week are happy ones, carry on, hugs

Santa Suit Card

I keep seeing these Santa Suit cards and they give me a giggle, I have so many scraps from my Christmas card making this year and wanted to see if I could do one of the cards with just scraps.  They come together pretty quickly once you get all the dimensions right.  So might do a few more to use up the scraps.  Hope everyone has a great weekend, hugs

The Polpei - A Christmas Story

If the Science channel would run "Through The Wormhole" all day, everyday, I would have it turned on and running in the background.  It is my favorite of favorites.  It spurs my imagination and creativity.  I am going to put the following short story on the back of the card.  The story played in my head as I was putting the card together.  The background is a gelli pull, fingerpainted print, I also played at being Mother Nature and created a snowflake, the baby bird and nest are from my growing stash of elements.  All coloring for the nest and bird are Copic Markers. All cuts were done with my Cameo.

Millions of light years away in a spiral galaxy, a small planet called Ayeterna, orbits a Blue Dwarf Star. Ayterna is inhabited by a Magical People.  They have been gifted with the secret of peace and harmony more years ago than are countable. As their story goes this bird is responsible.  He is called a Polpei and roughly translated into English means "Savior".  This amazing bird has feathers and a nest that is resistant to fire and heat. Ayeterna is a very cold planet, it has a rocky surface covered with snow and ice.  The population of Magic Ones live in caves of striking beauty and warmth all thanks to the Polpei. The Polpei lives for hundreds and hundreds of years and the Magic Ones care for and nurture the fledglings, it takes 25 to 30 years for a Polpei to mature. While the Magic Ones care and nuture the fledglings, the adult Polpei fly to their Blue Dwarf Star and collect snippets of the star and carry them back in their nests to the Magic Ones for their caves.  The Magic Ones create fire proof glass cylinders to house these snippets. These light the caves, grow the food, melt the snow for water and bring life where there would otherwise be none.  The only requirement is that the Magic Ones live in peace and harmony, if discord should break out, the adult Polpei refuse to fly on their missions of the daily light gathering. The Magic Ones had many seasons of darkness and famine before they realized the secret to life was working with and never against their gifts.

Peace

Another cut word Christmas card.  The background embossed with the Sizzix Holly Berry folder.  The Christmas Tree cut from sheet music sketch from the Silhouette Library and embellished with some buttons. Peace written with a calligraphy pen and C-3 nib then cut with the Cameo.  Hugs

Believe

One of the things on my "try this with the Cameo" list was to create a word that could be cut.  My large Calligraphy Nib has been missing in action and I just haven't had the time to look for it or to play with it once I found it.  One of this weeks projects was to clean off the studio table so that I would have room to put cards together over the next couple of weeks.  I have been sorting, putting away and tossing since Sunday and I found the nib, lol.  While waiting for stuff to dry or just when I needed a break I started playing.  I wrote the word "believe" larger than I normally would with my C-3 nib, this is so that when I make the element smaller to fit on the card, I won't lose any of the line work, like the squiggle at the end, NW Black Acrylic Ink on crisp white paper, then took it to PhotoShop and then with the Cameo turned it into an element and cut it out.  It will take some more practice but will definitely be something I will work on the 1st of next year, so many fun things that can be done with words.  The background was done with a homemade stencil and my gelli plate, I used my double poinsettia and my favorite snowflake punch from "marvy".
This is the nib, the C-3 has a very wide tip.  Happy Tuesday to you, hugs

Calm

My digi pages have been far and few between.  This one bubbled up yesterday and demanded to be heard. I am so glad I challenged myself to do the Art Journal Caravan, it gives me focus and inspiration when I am in a place I cannot seem to get out of.  I have been totally viewed into my goal of getting everything ready for the boutique in November and as the time line grows nearer I push and push and forget that I have to mellow out, chill, eat, sleep and just walk away from it every so often.  The background for this is one of my spray sheets, it is kissed with my coffee mug rings which I enhanced with a micron .005 pen, my raven is partially painted with copic markers.  As I was working on this we had a storm move in with huge black clouds full with thunder rumblings and lightning and then it rained like crazy, this morning we have clear star laden skies and the promise of a true fall day and I am back on calm, focus and determination, have a great Sunday, hugs

The Hand of Time

I did this as a birthday present for a friend whose birthday is coming up.  I found the hand at Hobby Lobby (you gotta love that place), the clock is real and the back is open to the movement which is fun to watch. I added a couple of my double butterfly elements and the calendar chips are from MFerk at Scrapbook Graphics.  I added the red circles around the dates that fall on Sunday with Tim Holtz distress markers.  Happy Friday and go joyfully into the weekend, hugs

Shine On

This is a variation on yesterdays card using Mr. Moon with the owl, they turned out to be good companions, lol.  My Cameo has taken a work out the last couple of months and is definitely the star of my studio.  Hope you have a great day, hugs

Moonshine

Just a quick card with the wonderful man in the moon.  Elements created with my Cameo and PS6.  All coloring done with Copic Markers.  The background is a scan in from one of my favorite T-shirts.  It is a full moon tomorrow night the 19th, so don't forget to pick a couple of stars to wish upon.  Hugs

Kitty Birthday - A Shape Card

I had a couple of personal birthdays to get off my table and out of my head, so made that my project for today.  This is for a sweetie little girl whose birthday is right before Halloween, so wanted to do a Halloweenish card but not a scary one and one that was specific for birthday.  I took my kitty element to make the shape card using my Cameo, the front side I used some background paper from "The Paper Studio, then cut the kitty out in full and adhered to at the back by the tail to the front.  When creating the card, I created the kitty on the shape portion with an offset, so when it cuts the card there is a hole in the partial kitty figure, you can probably understand better by looking at the inside of the card below, so the kitty is hallowed in orange on the front and white on the inside but not connected, the entire figure of the kitty is attached with a pop dot so it stands a little out from the shadow on the out side and is a little inside the shadow inside the card.  I used some of my sparkly stars and "Happy Birthday" stamp is by "Rubber Stamps of America", lol, a really old stamp.
this is the inside, Happy Tuesday to everyone, hugs

It's a Long Way

It's Friday, and I am moving at a slow but steady pace.  I have been playing with some ideas on lighting and shadows, this morning as I was waiting for something to dry, seems lately I do a lot of that, I started playing with this tree, it is perfect for my owl.  As I was working the song "It's a Long Long Way to Tipperary" starting rolling around in my head, lol, have no idea what brain file it flipped out of but it just worked for this card.
The song was written in 1912 as a pub bet and just took off, it was adopted by an Irish Regiment in 1914 and was heard on the front in WW1 and so is remembered as a war song.  I guess I will be singing it all weekend as I march to my own drummer.  Hope your songs are happy this weekend, hugs

Wishing

I have already shared that Fall is one of my favorite seasons.  I adore the night sky in the fall, for some reason the sky seems brighter and the stars seem bigger, fatter, they sparkle more in the fall, maybe it is the way the earth is situated or maybe it is just my imagination.  But that is what I was thinking about as I put this card together.  I wanted them tumbling and turning. I used a mixture of "Golden" tar gel medium and DecoArts "Glamour Dust"-Champagne to paint the solid stars.  The star is a line drawing and created the element using PS6 and my Cameo.  The larger stars were colored with Copic markers. The background is a tissue print done with Dylusion Inks, dark blue, turquoise and yellow.  Sentiment block was computer generated.  I do wish on stars, lol.
This is the inside of card, you can get a better view of the shimmer on the lower star on the sentiment block.  Have a wonderful hump day, hugs

Time For Fall

Other than the triple digit temps we had yesterday, there is some signs of fall in N CA.  It is getting dark a little earlier and the light has some directional change and I am ready.  Have a great week, hugs

A Witchy Interview

When the witch was asked if she felt Multi-Tasking was in her bag of tricks for the upcoming Halloween preparations, she replied, "Multi Tasking really isn't all that! I find I am done with my yoga way before my socks are dry! I prefer Magic."
Inside the card.  Hope this brings a giggle to the end of your week and sends you into the new one smiling, hugs

A Double Poinsettia

A little untraditional Christmas colors this morning with a pink poinsettia.  I layered it with pop dots so it would have a little more depth.  The background for the poinsettia is a gelli pull.  Elements were created using PS6 and Cameo.  Coloring, Copic markers, acrylic paint and Tim Holtz distress inks.  Have a happy Thursday, hugs

A little Christmas romance this morning.  Wow, September, really?  A visible change in light and starting to get a little darker earlier, I feel my favorite time of the year creeping in.  Hope everyone had a safe and fun Labor Day.  Hugs

Boo

oh oh the kittens are spooked, lol.  I created a faux blackboard background for this Halloween card. The ghost and fence are from the Silhouette Library and the other elements are mine.  Coloring - chalk and copic markers.  Have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend, hugs
