BBTB2 - Fashion

Shoes Make the Dress

Welcome to our BBTB2 Challenge, our hostess this week is the remarkably talented Rebekah, her challenge for us is Fashion.  Please check out all of my talented design sisters and then come play with us.  Please remember that the focus cut for your project must be a Cricut cut, rules are posted on the BBTB2 Challenge site.

What say ye about fashion?  It dribbles into our lives daily, via the television, inter-net and printed media.  Women will endure pain and constraint to look high fashioned.  For myself, life has become all about comfort, no longer the high heels, suits with starched shirts or even the dress.  But there were days where my first task for the day was centered around my closet.  I was obsessed with shoes, I believed that shoes could make or break the outfit and so my offering today is about shoes.

This is a standard A-2 card.  Background paper in polka dots, I then took an old pattern instruction sheet and scanned in a overview portion and printed it out, then took a portion of the pattern itself and adhered it to the printed out portion, distressed with Tim Holtz dies, rescanned and cut to use as my secondary background.  The shoes were cut from "Wall Decor and More".  I used gold foil for the hells and did 2 pieces of hammered wire for the sides.  All coloring was done with Copic markers.

Have a wonderful Fashion week and thanks so much for visiting, hugs

Just a little postscript: If my posts seem muddled, if I am short, if my words are misspelled, please forgive and love me anyway, I quit smoking today and the next week will be a bear, but I am going to keep as busy as possible, I am going to tackle every disorganized area and thing in my way as I trudge my way to the other side of the line, the no-smoking line, it is time.  So say a prayer for me and we will see if I can do this, I am pretty strong willed when I am committed, in the last 3mos, I have given up wine, beer and coffee lattes in preparation for this time, so I would say I am committed.  I have had many false starts in this desire to quit, but they say you are not a failure unless you quit trying.  Carry on, hugs

Your card is wonderful as always. As a former smoker (4 packs a day - quit 20 years ago) I commend you. It is hard but so worthwhile. I can remember a time when I couldn't imagine not having a cigarette, now I can't even begin to imagine having one! You can do this, just be patient and not too hard on yourself. Remember fall down seven times, get up eight! hugs to you, eileen

Oh my darling friend, I send hugs and prayers to get you through the not smoking...I've been there, done that and I know know know the struggle.
Now to your Fashion card. OH MY, those shoes, the background paper...just perfect. I was like you, I was obsessed with my attire... I wore the proverbial 3 piece suit ensemble, with the little blouse with the neck bow.. my briefcase, ...and I was a shoe affectionado to the enth-degree. Now I wear comfy clothes, tennis shoes and am all for comfort. I am so glad I am retired.
Love your card, my talented Sandi.

First of all, let me say how very proud I am of you for quitting the cigarettes. I can hardly stand to know the damage this habit can be doing to one of my friends. As a cancer survivor it is so fearful. Prayers for you to get through this will be the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do before going to bed! Be strong, Sweetie, and just keep thinking about how much healthier you'll be. As for your card, it's a beauty. I use to be like you with shoes, but alas, the old feet just gave out so it's all about comfort for me, too.

Fabulous background and the yummiest shoes EVER. I firmly DO believe that shoes make the outfit and expect to be buried in my Louboutins. Well, I take that back. Since I intend to be cremated, please save the shoes. LOL I know this time is a charm, Chickie. YOU CAN DO IT! Might make it a little easier if you reintroduced yourself to WINE, though. (JK...NOT!) LOADS of LOVE! xxD

Yes, the older we get the less we worry about the fashion and more about comfort.
AND i will be praying for you my friend, i quit 12 years ago and it was the hardest thing i have ever done.. i was a bear for a long long time.. hang in there, you can do it. (i took a lot of showers because that was the only place i didn't smoke.. and did a lot of screaming in there.. ) i think the only way i made it was i had lots of people praying for me.. hugs

PS, I quit after smoking for 25 years. You might try replacing it with a healthier option, like take the slow deep breaths like you are dragging on a cigarette, hold it in a second, blow it out slow, it helps. When I am slightly stressed I still do this 20 years later, and it still calms me down. Or, don't quit, just see how long you can go without that next cigarette, remind yourself of the hell you will suffer if you have it and have to start over. I did not admit I quit till 3 months later, I was not deprived, I could have 1 if I wanted it, I just convinced myself I did not. Best of luck, you can do it!
